We are advocates of IBM’s buckling spring keyboards, but we also appreciate IBM’s other older space saver keyboards and trackpoint keyboards.
(We currently have a negative opinion of the touch, feel and build-quality Lenovo’s made in China mass-produced keyboards that are more commonly available today) |

Keyboard uses IBM quality rubber dome mechanism, so it is very quiet as compared to traditional buckling spring model M keyboard.
Trackpoint mouse pointing mechanism is built-in and allows you to use the same technology that you use on your IBM thinkpad on your desktop computer.
Keyboard also has Windows keys allowing for keyboard shortcuts.
We recently switched to a 2006 Apple Mac Pro (two 2.66Ghz dual-core Intel Xeon "Woodcrest" processors, 4GB RAM, dual 500GB SATA, ATI Radeon X1900, dual 23" Apple Cinema Displays).
After trying to use the bundled Apple keyboard and cursed one-button mouse.. we found it much easier to use a familiar, proper PC keyboard with built-in trackpoint and have found this IBM keyboard to be perfect for switching between Microsoft Vista (beta) and Mac OS X on the same machine. (Windows key acts as Apple key in Mac OS, trackpoint works just like a mouse, keyboard has built-in left and right click buttons, F1-F12 logically arranged into groups of three, instead of one single line) |
