Did you know that part of the original technical specification for IBM model M keyboards were that the key caps (tops of keys) were meant to be removable and replaceable?
IBM originally created a customizable their own OEM kit to go with the IBM "MF-II Text/Data Keyboard". This consisted of a set of key caps made of clear plastics and paper inserts that could be custom-printed and put underneath individual keys. We are now selling a very limited number of clear keycaps custom-made for IBM model M keyboards. They are exact replicas of the original replaceable keycap and are built of clear plastic. The top surface of each key is slightly textured to allow for efficient typing. 100% compatible with all 1391401 and 42H1292 keyboards.
For years, very-high end computer keyboard manufactuers make their own custom keyboards for such keyboard-intensive applications such as Final Cut Pro, Avid Xpress, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop.
Now, there are even custom keyboards for PC gaming community. Popular PC games such as Counter Strike, Doom 3, Halo, Unreal, Battlefield 1942, Grand Theft Auto III, World of Warcraft, Everquest II, Medal of Honor, Civilization III.
Now, instead of buying a custom gaming keyboard.. you can print your own keyboard shortcuts and make your own one-of-kind model M keyboard.
